Cerebral Palsy football

Emerson Park Cerebral Palsy football team, epcpRomford, is part of Romford Borough Youth FC and provides coaching and playing opportunities for players with cerebral palsy.  The team is now in its 11th year and has developed a good relationship with Tottenham Hotspur Community Network, initially through a coaching link and now as a feeder club for the London Regional Cerebral Palsy Football Centre of Excellence.

The club is run for ambulant players aged 6 to adult with cerebral palsy. If you can get to the sessions you can take part. Players are mainly boys, but they are seeking to recruit more girls.epcpRomford gets strong support from its home club, Romford Borough Youth FC, and from Emerson Park Academy in Hornchurch, Essex.

Emerson Park Academy provides excellent training facilities, which enable the players to train whatever the weather, whilst Romford Borough Youth FC helps to develop home grown coaches from former players.  Tim Morris (back row third from right) and Luke Brook are also coaches for the team.

epcpRomford started as part of Emerson Park Academy’s community programme when it became a Sports College.  In the 11 years that the club has been running, players have graduated from their Hornchurch roots to play for the Regional CP Centre of Excellence, the England CP Development Squad and the England CP Senior Squad; the England Lions.  Players have also represented their country at athletics and in keeping with the ethos of Emerson Park Academy, have moved on to gain Higher Education qualifications in Coaching and Sports Science.  Perhaps Mikki, Gareth, Hamish, William or Jack, shown in the group, will be in the next batch of players to follow the example already set by former members of the team.
