All students are aligned to a House upon entry to the Academy. The House system was introduced in 2004 and is used for competition and community purposes. 

The Houses are:

Brunel - Named after Isambard Kingdom Brunel, who was a mechanical and civil engineer. 

Cavell - Named after Edith Cavell, who was a courageous nurse killed in World War One.

Hepworth - Named after Barbara Hepworth, who was an artist and sculptor.

Redgrave - Named after Steve Redgrave a 5 times gold winning Olympian rower.
